As an avid photographer (see CES-Photography.co.uk)and heavy computer user, I am somewhat more fanatical about backup than most.

Quite frankly losing any of my photos or data used to keep me awake at night, when going on holiday I would leave a separate hard drive with a neighbour, I would send dvd backups to family members and had a fanatical array of hard drives double backup up everything. I knew there had to be a better way, that just worked, and didn’t cost the earth

For the last few years I have been trialling many products, to establish the best most secure and resilient method of backing up my extensive photo library and computer systems.

My conclusion was this, for home I use a multi hard disk system, that can survive a hard disk failure with no problem, however there is always the risk that without off site backup, you could easily lose everything with one flood, fire or theft.

So the solution is an offsite backup system, it needs to be automatic, and simple, yet powerful enough to leave the user confident that it will be there when things go wrong.

Again I trialled many off site backup solutions, the conclusion I came to was that the only way to get the system I wanted was to buy wholesale. In buying wholesale I could gain control of the system enough to give me total confidence in it.
